We offer a unique opportunity to visit the largest wetland complex in Žemaitija, covering an area of about 800 hectares. Reiskiai swamp is a high marsh with an abundance of aquilars and glades, full of tiny lakelets. In the centre of Reiskiai swamp there is located the lake of Reiskiai forming scenic islands in slightly higher places for various and scarce kinds of birds to nest during the summer. Reiskiai swamp is a completely wild teritory with no tourist trails, paths or lookout towers, so the only way to get there safely is to travel with locals, who know the way back and forth. It has a rich history from post WWII period when a patriotic guerilla war was with the occupants from the Soviets. Many stories and an unforgettable landscape are guaranteed from an experienced guide who knows the authentic local stories related to this tundra-like corner of nature.
